Heartland Bank is pleased to introduce an upgraded version of our CardValet® app. The HB Card Control app is a new and improved app that is now accessed and housed within our Mobile Banking app and helps to reduce account fraud by allowing cardholders to monitor accounts with their smartphone and control how, when and where their debit card is used.
HB Card Control is available in the Apple® App Store or Google® Play. Once the Card Control app is downloaded, if you were a CardValet user, your cards, alerts and controls will automatically transfer. If you're a new user, please access our New User Guide for download and set-up steps. Once you have verified your cards, take a minute to look over the features and benefits in our Quick Reference Guide.
Cardholders still have the ability to “turn off”, establish transaction spending limits, and decline a transaction when the amount exceeds a predefined threshold. Cardholders now have the ability to set up travel plan without contacting the bank. Select your depart/return dates and up to 15 domestic and/or international destinations with up to 2 travel exemptions per card. This process is protected through a one-time security token that will be emailed or texted.
Real-time smartphone alerts can be customized based on the types of information each cardholder would like to receive. For example, a cardholder can set up an alert to be notified when a card is used, when a transaction is approved and exceeds any of the permitted use policies, or when a card transaction has been attempted but has been declined based on the parameters established.
HB Card Control offers cardholders the capability of linking additional accounts to better monitor dependent spending. So, by using the GPS system in their smart phone, geographic use restrictions can be established for college students along with restrictions on merchant type and spending limits.
Card Control is also ideal for small businesses. All transactions can be monitored or controlled for specific merchant categories, such as travel, restaurants or entertainment, and can be denied or reported for types of merchants deemed not business related.
