In response to rising fraud trends in 2025, the Nebraska Bankers Association has launched its new fraud-awareness campaign, “That’s A Red Flag,” to help banks educate customers and communities about common warning signs of scams and fraud.
As part of this effort, Nebraska Governor Jim Pillen also proclaimed May as Fraud Awareness Month in Nebraska.

Together, the coalition helped support several important anti-fraud laws in Nebraska aimed at protecting consumers and strengthening fraud prevention efforts statewide.
Three recently passed laws are helping provide additional protections for Nebraskans:
LB 838: Allows banks to contact a trusted person when suspected elder financial exploitation is occurring.
LB 1118: Requires social media platforms to verify advertisers and remove scam advertisements.
LB 965: Strengthens penalties related to mail key and lock theft tied to identity theft and organized crime.
