America's 250th Anniversary

As we enter into 2026 and the 250th anniversary of the United States, the U.S. Mint is rolling out a special series of redesigned coins that celebrate our nation’s heritage and journey. These changes mark a once-in-a-generation event—just like the Bicentennial coins did 50 years earlier—giving everyday Americans the chance to hold history in their hands.

🇺🇸 What’s Changing in 2026

In honor of America’s Semiquincentennial (that’s 250 years since the signing of the Declaration of Independence), the U.S. Mint will introduce new one-year-only designs on several circulating coins:

  • Nickels with a dual date of 1776 - 2026
  • Dimes with updated imagery
  • Quarters featuring five different designs highlighting important moments and ideals in American history
  • Half dollars redesigned with special imagery for this milestone year
  • These coins will enter everyday circulation and can also be purchased directly from the U.S. Mint in special sets or rolls.

Each coin design was created to reflect the journey of the United States and the enduring principles of liberty, offering a unique way for Americans to connect with the story of our nation.

In addition to the redesigned everyday coins, the Mint is planning other special collectible products for 2026. This includes unique versions of well-known coins with commemorative markings, limited editions, and sets that make meaningful keepsakes or gifts for collectors and history lovers alike.
