In the 1930s, we made headlines in Ripley's Believe It or Not for our claim to fame: more windmills per person than any other Nebraska town. While progress ushered in a water tower in 1949, all but one windmill retired gracefully. Today, that lone sentinel stands proudly on the Daykin Community Building lawn, a living testament to our history and an emblem of our unique and captivating past.
