Scammers are getting better at looking legitimate. Knowing what your bank will never ask can help you spot a scam. At Heartland Bank, helping protect your financial information is important to us. As fraud tactics continue to evolve, it's a good time to review some simple reminders to help keep your accounts secure.
If you ever receive a phone call, text message, or email appearing to be from Heartland Bank, remember that we will NEVER ask you to:
- Provide your debit card PIN.
- Log in to your online banking.
- Click a link sent through a text message.
- Transfer money to another account.
- Download software or allow someone to access your device.
If our fraud monitoring service, EnFact, contacts you about a transaction, they will only ask you to confirm whether or not you made the transaction. They will NEVER ask for your PIN, online banking credentials, or other sensitive account information.
If someone is asking for personal information or something doesn't feel right, end the conversation and contact your local Heartland Bank branch or call the number on the back of your debit card. Our team will be happy to help verify the communication and answer any questions.
If you're concerned about your debit card, you can temporarily turn it off through the HB Mobile app while you contact us.
Remember: you never have to make a decision on the spot. If you're unsure about a call, text, or email, pause and contact your local Heartland Bank branch directly. We're always happy to help you verify information and bank with confidence.
🚩 SPOT THE RED FLAGS 🚩
- 🚩 Senders' Phone Number - Enfact will have a custom one-time use short-digit number.
- 🚩 Asking you to verify account ownership and possession of the card by 🚩sharing a link for you to click on.
- 🚩Note that the link label states "Real Estate Live Lead Panel."
- 🚩 Repeating the same message from earlier, meaning you have to reconfirm your activity.
When this happens:
- ✅ Call your local Heartland Bank branch. We can verify your Enfact case.
- ✅ If you are worried, you can lock your debit card in our HB Mobile app.
- ✅ DO NOT click on links. Enfact will not send you a link to click on.
